Unboxing the Eye of Horus Special Edition Glamourbox

It’s been quite a long while since I wrote one of these (since September, to be exact, for the Perfectly Pristine Glamourbox)! The first Glamourbox of 2015 has finally arrived, and this one is an exclusive box pa! Eye of Horus teams up with Glamourbox for an eye-exclusive treat called Eye Love It!

They say that the eyes are the windows to our souls. Mesmerize everyone with a little help from cult favorites, as we’ve teamed up with Eye of Horus to help you play up those peepers and achieve the perfect sultry look! Awaken your inner Goddess this summer!

gbeoh01

For Php695, anything that Eye of Horus throws in this box is already a winner. Most of their products are at the Php900+ range, so even a single eye pencil will already be sulit. I did not hesitate to grab this box the moment they opened the subscription. Shall we see what’s inside?

Pixi Mesmerizing Palette in Rich Gold and Plum Quartz Swatches

Two of my most recent acquisitions are the two latest releases from Pixi Philippines: the new Mesmerizing Palettes in Rich Gold and Plum Quartz. I’ve finally been able to swatch them for you today!

Two new Pixi Mesmerizing Palettes!
Two new Pixi Mesmerizing Palettes!

The back of the palettes showing their shade names.

First let me show you some product pictures. First we have Rich Gold.

As the name suggests, it is comprised of gold and sparkly shades as this is their holiday palette. The first shade (counting from the one closest to the hinge) is almost invisible on me. The second shade is a sparkly rose gold. The third is the star of the show, very foily gold. The fourth is a metallic brown. The fifth is metallic silvery gray. The last shade is a very dark gray with gold flecks. Check out the arm swatches below.

Then we go to the Plum Quartz, which I believe is part of their fall release.

Plum Quartz is a more balanced palette in terms of finish. The first shade and second shades are pearl white and pink respectively. The third is a matte dusty purple, which leans very brown. The fourth is a shimmery copper, very close to the last shade in the Copper Peach palette. The fifth one is the star of the show, a vivid dark plum. The last shade is a somewhat matte dark gray. Check out the arm swatches below.

I can’t wait to try these out! In particular I’m eager to see the stars of the show (Rich Gold #3 and Plum Quartz #5) in action. These are actually my second and third Mesmerizing Palettes. You can check out my first, Copper Peach, here. Expect to see some FOTDs and also a comparison swatch with all three palettes. Each of these costs Php620 and is available at Glamourbox. Pixi is cruelty-free.

Glamourbox VIP Sale Haul

Glamourbox has recently celebrated its second year anniversary, and in line with this they offered a site-wide 20% off sale. In addition to that, long-time clients are invited to a VIP Sale of 30% off. I did not hesitate and grabbed myself some items that had been sitting in my wishlist for a while! Let me show you what I got.

gbvipsale01

Since they released the Perfectly Pristine box last April, I was in love with the Aloe Derma Pure Aloe Vera Gel. I really loved how it performed, and since then I put the full sized tube on my wishlist and now I finally have it! It’s a pretty large tube which will take me a long time to finish. Just in time too, as I want to use this to calm down my daughter’s skin irritations recently. This 114g tube costs Php460 normally.

Another item from Aloe Derma that I was interested in is this Super Hydration Booster. I was curious what this does, and as I suspected this is a toner-like product. I have a lot of toners but I wanted to see how this one performs. This 110ml bottle costs Php215 normally.

We now come to the makeup items. The first one is Empro Triangular Brow Pencil. I really like eyebrow pencils, and this is my first one that has an interesting shape to it. I got the shade Brown, which I’m hoping to be dark enough to match my undyed hair. This one costs a remarkable Php975 normally, but it’s currently on sale for Php500!

Lastly we have a pair of Pixi Mesmerizing Mineral Palettes! I’m so enamored of my first one, Copper Peach, and as soon as I heard there were other palettes I knew I wanted to collect them. I got the two newest ones available at Glamourbox: the holiday themed Rich Gold, and the plum based Plum Quartz. It’s hard, but I have not even touched them yet except to take these pictures. Of course a beauty blogger will not even swatch items until proper product shots are taken first! Just waiting for a good opportunity. Btw each of these palettes costs Php620 normally.

To be honest that’s not all I wanted to get, but there were some items already sold out (Pixi Shea Butter Lip Balms) and some I wasn’t really sure I wanted to get (i.e. they were not originally on my wishlist). Overall though I am quite pleased, and I can’t wait to try them all out! I am definitely reviewing and uploading swatches for the makeup items.

Happy Anniversary, Glamourbox!

Review: Ofra Lipstick #205

One of my recent makeup kit mainstays is Ofra Lipstick #205. This is the other option to receive from the Beauty SOS Glamourbox last year. I got my #202 (red) from that, and this #205 I bought from Shayne.

ofra205-3

ofra205-1

It is what I would describe as orchid pink, although it leans a lot more violet on the tube. There is a small window on the bottom that lets you see the shade.

ofra205-2

As I said, on the tube it looks a lot like purplish pink.

ofra205-4

Here is the arm swatch. See what I mean about orchid pink? It’s actually quite dainty and lighter than what the color in the tube looks like.

ofra205-8

One of the things I really like about this lipstick is that it looks different depending on whether you blotted the lipstick or not. Check out the lip swatches here.

ofra205-5

Here’s a face shot with the non-blotted version. You can really see the sheen of the lipstick here.

ofra205-6

And here is another shot, this time blotted. The sheen is now much more muted, and it looks almost matte.

ofra205-7

I really like that I can choose to go either matte or shiny with this lipstick. It also smells like vanilla, which I really like. It lasts relatively long, about 4 hours, without drinking or eating. Unfortunately it has a tendency to transfer, so be careful about that. This looks like a standard 4g or 3.5g lipstick, and costs Php650.

Ofra is cruelty-free.

Pros: beautiful orchid pink shade; relatively long lasting; cruelty-free

Cons: price; transfers

Ofra Lipstick #205 is available through the Glamourbox Boutique, as well as selected Snoe outlets and Glamourbox stalls.

Ofra Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick in Laguna Beach

Quite an almost-alliteration! Ofra Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick in Laguna Beach is unabashedly my favorite in the Flawless Beauty Glamourbox that was recently released. I love Ofra lipsticks and have always lemmed for the liquid lipsticks available at Glamourbox Boutique. You won’t believe just how excited I was when I saw this inside the subbie box (there was some squealing involved)!

flawlessbeautygb05

The lipstick came in a black box with a little window to show you the shade, and the actual tube is a transparent one with a black cap. The shade name is clearly written on the tube.

lagunabeach1 lagunabeach2

The wand itself is just a doe foot applicator. It’s adequate enough to apply the lipstick onto the lips, but is not a very good one for defining the cupid’s bow. For better application, I would recommend using a lip brush. [Pardon this shot. For some reason the macro setting focused on the tube instead of the wand.]

lagunabeach3

Here again is the arm swatch. From this and the product color on the wand we can see that Laguna Beach is some sort of peachy pink/plum sort of shade.

flawlessbeautygb06

Let’s move on to the lip swatches! Here is a comparison of bare lips and one with Laguna Beach.

lagunabeach4

It looks a lot muted here than what the arm swatch suggests. Here’s a closer look at the lips.

lagunabeach5

Upon closer inspection, Laguna Beach is actually a pretty pale pink. As it is a liquid lipstick, there needs to be a little bit of wait time for the lipstick to dry and settle. It dries matte, but unfortunately has a tendency to emphasize the lip lines. To test the longevity of it, I took another photo after four hours and a meal (Brightest Bulb in a Box‘s lipstick longevity test).

lagunabeach6

It’s still somewhat there but a little faded, and is a lot more evident on the outer edges of my lips. I would say that this is fairly long lasting, as long as you don’t eat or drink so much. It is still a pretty interesting lipstick for me (my second liquid one, but my most used so far!). Did I mention it smells so good? It has a very appealing vanilla pastry scent that makes me want to buy cupcakes. This costs a pretty steep Php950, but it has 8 grams of product (usual lipstick tubes contain 3.5-4 grams). Ofra Cosmetics is a cruelty-free company.

Unboxing the Flawless Beauty Glamourbox

Hot on the heels of the Beauties and Babies box, Glamourbox releases a new box with the theme Flawless Beauty! I am pretty excited to receive that box honestly because I was expecting a particular brand to be featured due to the theme. Let’s see what’s inside, shall we?

flawlessbeautygb01

As mentioned, the theme is Flawless Beauty. This box aims to provide us with flaw-fixers and restore us to our natural beauty.

Unboxing the Beauties and Babies Glamourbox

Preface: I am now moving on to the actual individual Glamourbox titles instead of sticking them to a specific month. Now that Glamourbox is not really a monthly box, it just makes sense. In addition, I received the box kind of in between two months, which makes it difficult to tell which month it belongs to!

Moving on to business! This is quite a special Glamourbox in that the target market is mothers. I find that it’s a refreshing thing and as a mother I am looking forward to seeing what it contains. I can see though that it might turn off some potential subscribers especially if they aren’t mothers or there are no babies or young kids in their lives.

Beauties and Babies: Motherhood is such an exciting moment in any woman’s life. Whether you are expecting, or blessed with a bundle of joy, embrace everything beautiful that comes with it with this curated beauty and skincare selection!

The box of course is the usual sturdy Glamourbox box, with pink tissue hiding all that goodness.

Review: Pixi Glow Magic Tink Tint in Happy Thoughts Pink

Whoa this is pretty late already, but I figured I might as well still post a review. I got this Pixi Glow Magic Tink Tint in Happy Thoughts Pink from the April Glamourbox (2013).

pixipink7

It is a twist-up chubby pencil type of lip gloss with a clear plastic cap, and the shade I received is Happy Thoughts Pink. As you can see below, it has 3 grams of product.

pixipink9

It is also trademarked by Disney for using the Tinkerbell branding. See if you can spot Tinkerbell in the photo below.

pixipink8

I’ve been using this for quite some time, which can be evidenced by the pretty beat up state of my tube. I have some pink stains on the tip of the tube and where the cap ends. The cap itself is cracked in several places, which I fixed with the help of several wraps of scotch tape. I think I shoved the tube into its cap way too vigorously, hence the cracks.

It applies on clear on the lips, but deepens into a nice pinkish glow after a few minutes.

pixipink1
Bare lips
pixipink2
With one layer of Magic Tink Tint

After a few hours, it settles into a nice glossy pinkish red. I love how it doesn’t feel sticky on the lips, and it actually has a faint sweet taste and scent. It keeps my lips moisturized. This can last for a few hours, but will not survive eating and drinking.

pixipink3 pixipink5

Tinted Brilliance Balms like this are Php790 at the Glamourbox Boutique. They have several shades available, and are bringing in more!

Pros: beautiful shade; nonsticky; moisturizing; convenient twist-up pencil

Cons: slightly expensive

Pixi cosmetics can be bought from the Glamourbox Boutique and certain Snoe Beauty stores. Pixi is cruelty-free.

Review: The Cream Factory Bath Cream in Goat’s Milk and Seaweed

One of the items I received in the Secret Santa Glamourbox is this bottle of The Cream Factory Bath Cream in Goat’s Milk and Seaweed.

tcfbath1

It’s the smaller 221ml bottle, and is usually not available by itself. It comes in a variety 3-pack (Php799) and is available at the Glamourbox Boutique. It is also available in a huge 768ml bottle, and costs Php699. Here’s what the bottle looks like at the back.

tcfbath2

And here’s the list of ingredients.

tcfbath3

The product itself is a slightly runny milky substance. What I do is to put a swirl of it into a loofah or bath sponge and apply in circular motion all over the body. I like using this especially at the end of stressful days. The scent is wonderfully relaxing, and it is quite moisturizing as well.

tcfbath4

I really love this! I am planning to get myself a 3-pack so I can try the other variants. The Cream Factory is cruelty-free.

Pros: luxurious and stress-relieving; wonderful scent; moisturizing; available in many supermarkets

Cons: a little expensive

Unboxing the Snoe Glamourbox Special Edition

Six months after the first ever Glamourbox Special Edition, Glamourbox releases its second one, this time from Snoe! Ever since GB announced a partnership with Snoe (they carry a huge amount of Snoe products in the Boutique) I have foreseen, or at least hoped pretty hard, that they will release a special edition from Snoe. They didn’t disappoint! Glamourbox opens 2014 with a bang with this awesome Special Edition Snoe Glamourbox!

Warning: Photo-intensive post ahead! [You can click on each photo for a bigger size.]

snoegb01

Unfortunately, unlike the Avon Glamourbox, the Snoe box just came in the standard Glamourbox print. It doesn’t really detract from the experience, but I am a huge fan of limited editions and would have wanted a Snoe-printed box to go with the Avon one. 😛

snoegb02

Here is a sneak peek which I uploaded to twitter a few hours ago. Check out that big bottle teasing us with surprise goodness!

snoegb19

This is the welcome card for this month. I like how that white burst really pops out and is a great representation of the new year. I will show you the back of it at the end of the post.

snoegb04

Here are the contents of the box when you remove the welcome card. Check out those awesome products! Let me show them to you one by one, in the order of preference.

Let me first confess that I was hoping for a makeup-leaning box, but instead we get a more bath and body concentrated experience. I don’t really mind, honestly, since I do get to try Snoe products that I wouldn’t have thought of trying.

snoegb18

In any case there is still one makeup product in the box: the Snoe Poudre Extraordinaire. I’ve seen a lot of rave reviews of this product, notably from Liz of Project Vanity, and I’ve been wanting to try this ever since. I received this really cute sample tub, and I think the shade is the lightest, Vanilla Creme. This is a mineral powder that contains acai berry, and claims to protect the skin from free radicals, tightens and smoothens fine lines yet totally blends naturally into the skin. Let us also not overlook the fact that this has SPF. I have no idea how much product this sample has, but the full size of 35g costs Php799. It didn’t come with a brush or sponge applicator.

snoegb06 snoegb07 snoegb08

The next one in my favorites list is the biggest item in the box: Snoe Hair Heroes Agent Zero Cleansing Serum. It’s an all-around cleanser made specifically for sensitive skin (yay!), and contains no fragrance, sulfates, and silicones. It can be used for both hair and body, and claims to be gentle enough even for babies. I’m so excited to try this out! Check out the label design, I like the tux detail that supports the “Agent Zero” theme. Props also for having the manufacture and expiry dates clearly printed on the back. This is the full sized bottle (250ml) and costs Php599. This product alone pays back the cost of the subscription (Php595).

snoegb09

I was very intrigued by this next product: Snoe Body Ritual Recipes Whipped Body Frosting Lotion. I had originally thought, hey that’s a really cute pink bottle. A closer look shows that the bottle is actually transparent, and it is the product that is actually pink! It’s a lotion filled with goodness in the form of Vitamin E, papaya extracts, and SPF15, and smells really great too! I love lotions and this is a welcome addition to my arsenal. This looks to be full sized, 150g, which costs Php249. It’s a little more expensive per gram compared to the Human Heart Nature body butters.

snoegb16 snoegb17

Next we have a new form of the Beso Balm: the Bedside Besobalm Deep Moisturizing Lip Treatment in Pink Pout Pucker. It’s made to be used while sleeping, how cool is that! It’s also perfectly timed, as the cold weather is wrecking havok on lips. The welcome card claims that it “creates luscious pink lips”, so I’m thinking this has some amount of lip color/stain as well. This full size 4g tube costs Php249.

snoegb12 snoegb13 snoegb14 snoegb15

We now come to a pair of soaps that Snoe was originally known for. These are both whitening soaps called Snow White Beauty Bar, and the variants I got were Organic Papaya and Lightening Licorice. The Organic Papaya one is an exfoliator and aims to treat blemishes and dark spots, while the Lightening Licorice is supposed to brighten and nourish skin for a younger complexion. While I am not really interested in whitening, I like interesting soaps like these so I am happy to receive them too. Each of these soaps is 150g and costs Php139. Again check out the manufacture and expiry dates printed on the back.

snoegb10 snoegb11

Lastly we have the Snoe Fizzy Clean Foaming Hand Sanitizer. I am honestly not a big fan of fancy hand sanitizers as I am perfectly content with my bag mainstay (Bench Alcogel). Snoe’s hand sanitizer is supposed to be a quirky one because it foams up. This one is 50ml and costs Php179, which is really quite steep for a hand sanitizer. The bottle is also huge and obviously contains liquid, which makes it not quite portable.

snoegb05

My impressions of the Snoe Glamourbox Special Edition: This is a much awaited box for me, and it mostly delivered! I like the fact that I get to try products I wouldn’t normally consider buying, and I still get to try a makeup item as well. Snoe is also (as far as I know) cruelty-free so I’m really quite happy about that.

snoegb20

Value review: The total value of this box, excluding the poudre sample and the hand sanitizer, is Php1375. This is already more than twice the box cost of Php595! I really don’t mind the fact that a lot of that is just one product (agent zero) because I still get to try all these interesting items. Admittedly, this is also way less than the average box value of Glamourbox (Php1800) but keep in mind that I didn’t include the value of the poudre sample and the hand sanitizer. Again I am so so pleased with the Special Edition, and I’m really looking forward to the next one!

You can read more about the Snoe company at their website, and you can browse prices at their online store. Snoe products are available in various locations and can also be found at the Glamourbox Boutique.
